Principle

In this experiment, the properties of the sulfur are investigated.
For this purpose, the sulfur is heated to the melt in the first experimental part (monoclinic and rhombic sulfur), and the habit of the crystals formed is observed during the cooling.
In the second experimental part (crystallization of rhombic crystals from a sulfur solution), sulfur is dissolved in sulfuric carbon, and the crystallization of the sulfur is then observed upon evaporation of the solvent.
In the third experimental section (behavior of the melt on further heating and in the case of sudden cooling), the material properties of the resulting amorphous sulfur are observed.

Benefits

  • Experimental literature available for pupils and teachers: Minimum preparation time
  • Hazard assessment for pupils and teachers available
  • Easy teaching and efficient learning using the available interactive experiment literature
