For the measurement of the depth of transparency, or turbidity, of water.The disc is lowered down into the water, held on the 10 m long cord which has a marking every 0.5 m, until its outlines can just be no longer seen. The depth of transparency can be read from the markings on the cord. The disc can be lowered into water from a boat, landing-stage or, using the telescopicrod 64760.00, from the shore.
