Function and Applications

The Pump-Probe spectroscopy experiment set explores depopulation and charge transfer dynamics in the nanosecond regime using transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy. This technique uses transmission measurements to determine the change in absorbance of a sample after excitation by light.

• Setup of a transmission-based, time-resolved absorption experiment in the nanosecond range
• Measurement of the influence of the pump-beam focus lens on the transient absorption signal
• Determination of the decay time of an excited molecular state Investigation of the influence of the concentration as well as the presence of additional chemicals on the decay time
• Optional experiments on data deconvolution, pulse width influence, and optimization of the beam focus
