Enthalpy and entropy as driving forces of chemical reactions

Item No. P1136300

Principle

The experiment examine the terms enthalpy and entropy as the main forces of chemical reactions. Students perform the reaction of zinc and hydrochloric acid as an example of an exothermic reaction. The heat, which is developed by the raction, is measured with a thermometer. The reaction of barium hydroxide with ammonium rhodanide is performed as an example of an endothermic reaction. This reaction mixture cools down to a temperature of  -20 ° C, which can be monitored with a thermometer.
